Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of Workshelf ("the Service"), a writing platform operated by Your Shared Thread LLC ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these terms.
1. Your Account
- You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service.
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
- You must provide accurate information when creating your account.
- One person or entity per account. Account sharing is not permitted.
2. Your Content
- You own your content. Workshelf does not claim ownership of anything you write or upload.
- You grant us a limited license to store, process, and display your content solely to provide the Service to you and your collaborators.
- Private repositories are only accessible to you and users you explicitly invite.
- Public repositories are readable by anyone on the internet.
- You are responsible for the content you create. Do not use the Service to store or distribute illegal content.
3. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any illegal purpose
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' accounts or data
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service (e.g., automated abuse, DoS)
- Impersonate other users or entities
- Use the Service to distribute malware, spam, or phishing content
- Scrape or bulk-download content from the Service
- Circumvent rate limits or security controls
4. Collaboration
- Repository owners control who has access to their repositories.
- Collaborators with "editor" access can modify content. Collaborators with "reader" access can only view.
- Repository owners can remove collaborators at any time.
- If you are invited as a collaborator, the repository owner controls the content and access permissions.
5. Service Availability
- We aim to keep the Service running and available, but we do not guarantee 100% uptime.
- We may perform maintenance, which could result in temporary unavailability.
- We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service with reasonable notice.
6. Account Termination
- You may delete your account at any time from your account settings. Deletion is immediate and permanent.
- We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
- Upon deletion, all your data (profile, repositories, files, commits) is permanently destroyed.
7. Limitation of Liability
The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or interruption of service.
You are responsible for maintaining your own backups. While we provide export functionality, we recommend regularly exporting important work.
8. Intellectual Property
- The Workshelf name, logo, and application code are our intellectual property.
- Your content remains yours. These terms do not transfer any intellectual property rights.
9. Privacy
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your data.
10. Changes to Terms
We may update these terms. Significant changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification at least 30 days before taking effect. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
11. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of the applicable jurisdiction.
